HEALTH TIPS

These health tips are only there for some people

who need the help. Doggywood Kennels will not be held

responsible for owners giving there dogs wrong medicine or any thing.

Tip 1:

What to do if your dog has parvo (katgriep)

Now this is an easy one, and cheap as well.

  1. Take away hard food from your dog, only give your dog soft food.
  2. Give your dog 2 Purbacs emediatly and there after 1 in the
  3. morning and 1 in the evening. Give your dog scripto-lyte in there water.
  4. If your dog don’t want to drink it will get dehydrated, if you see your dog gets dry give it some Ringer or Balsol drip under the skin using a syringe.
  5. This will help you to save your dog if he / she has Parvo.
  6. Purbac and Scripto-Lyte are available at pharmacies.

Tip 2:

What to do if your dog has tic fever

If you see your dog has tic fever, go to the corporation

and buy yourself some Berinil.

  1. Weigh your dog, it is important to give your dog the rite dosage,         If you give your dog to much, it will get brain damage, and to less won’t help.
  2. If you have your dog’s exact weight you can calculate the dosage and inject your dog under the skin.

Tip 3:

What to do if your dog has kennel cough

Kennel cough can spread fast and easy, so first try to

isolate your dog from other dogs.

Then you give your dog 2 Purbacs immediately and there after 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening.

Some honey will also help with the Purbac.

Tip 4:

What to do if your dog get poisend

This is a difficult one as not all the poisons work the same.

If possible take your dog to the vet as he will be able to ‘read’ the

symptoms.

But for an emergency you can do the following and it will work

for most poisons.

Always keep this stuff in your house:

Vitamin K i.v. injection

Atropine 5

Medical Charcole.

  1. Force as much charcole into your dog’s stomach as possible, this will absorb the poison that is left and the dog will vommit it out.
  2. Give your dog a Vitamin K injection as this will stop internal bleeding, if there is any.
  3. Give your dog a Atropine 5 injection.
  4. Also check that your dog don’t dehydrate, give him some drip if you have to.

Tip 5:

What to use for infection and swelling

Use a penicillin base antibiotic, I got the best results from Procapen and Penni LA. You can also buy some Metazole from your pharmacy and give that to your dog, it also work nice.

Tip 6:

What to use for mange

You can buy some ointment called Demomange, it works verry nice

or you can buy some flowers of sulfur from your pharmacy and mix

it with vasiline and put that on the mange twice per day.

In conjunction with that you can buy some Ecomectin from your

corporation and give your dog a shot under the skin.

Tip 7:

What to do if your bitch don’t come in season

A  bitch needs Omega3 and Omega6 fats to come in season.

If your dog don’t get enough of that she won’t come in season

or she will come in season but don’t get pregnant.

You can buy a Vital product called ‘Omega3 and Omega6’

and give it to your bitch every day.

Tip 8:

What to give your bitch to stop producing milk

If you take your pups away from there mother it is important

that she stops producing milk as this can cause Mistites

Give your bitch 8 Pyridoxine 25mg tablets, 3 times per day, till

she stops to produce milk.

Milk your female out 2 days after first Pyridoxine.

You can buy Pyridoxine from your pharmacy.
